Shymbulak (Chimbulak) is Central Asia’s flagship resort above Almaty: base ~2,260 m, top ~3,180–3,200 m (Talgar Pass). Most rentals sit at the gondola base and along the Medeu road — Saturday mornings mean queues. Booking online locks size and pack tier ahead of time.

- Is online booking cheaper?
- Yes — online is below walk-in, plus duration discounts for 3+ and 7+ days.
- Can I cancel?
- Yes, until 48 hours before rental start. Online deposit refund minus 5% processing fee and transfer costs.
- Pickup at Medeu or the base?
- Base (2,260 m) is best on ski day — straight onto snow. Official Medeu gondola desk works if you self-drive, but queues run longer. Dostyk is cheaper if you can transfer gear. Check distance-to-lift on the shop card.
- How do I get from Almaty airport?
- ALA → Medeu ~35–40 km / ~40–50 min by taxi, then gondola to Shymbulak. From city centre — 30–40 min to Medeu.
- Is kids gear available?
- Yes — Kids pack with helmet. Filter shops with the Kid friendly badge.
- Can I pick up from 5pm the day before?
- Yes — Early Pick Up is confirmed by the shop on booking.
- What languages do shops speak?
