Gear rental and how to get there
From Tashkent to Chimgan the easiest way is taxi or an organised transfer. The road takes 1.5-2 hours. Some gear is easier to rent in Tashkent in advance (hiking boots, poles); other items at the Chimgan base (climbing ropes, helmets in summer, ski gear in winter).
Book gear and transfer in advance on peak days — weekends and holidays. qaragan shows current availability so you do not need to call multiple places. For families: bring water from below (shops are few), sunscreen and a warm layer even in July — above 2,000 m temperature changes fast.
